Cuzco Excursions
Cuzco is a very nice town to spend some time. Here below we give you some ideas for several excursions you could do when you are in Cuzco.
CITY TOUR IN CUZCO;
Duration: 03.30 Hrs.
Departure at 14.00
This city tour last for about three and a half hours and you will visit the nearby ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Quenqo, Pukipucara and Tambomachay. It also includes the temple of the sun (Qoricancha) and the cathedral. To enter all these sites and lots of other sites in the city you need a tourist ticket (BTG)
EXCURSION TO THE SACRED VALLEY:
Duration: Full Day.
Departure at 08.30
This fascinating tour Last all day and is done every day of the week. You visit the small market town of Pisaq, the ruins of Ollantaytambo and the small community of Chincheros. To enter all these sites and lots of other sites in the city you need a tourist ticket (BTG)
EXCURSION TO MACHU PICCHU:
Duration: All day:
Departure Early Morning .
You will be collected from the hotel and transferred to train station. The comfortable tourist train will take you to the small town of Aquas Calientes from where busses leave to the ruins (+/- 20 min). A guided tour through the ruins of about two and a half hours followed with an opportunity for lunch (not included). Some more time to explore the ruins and then back by bus and train to Cuzco where you will be transferred to your hotel.
There are several trains to Machu Picchu, but since 2009 the trains leave from Poroy and not from Cuzco. Poroy is a very small village about 12 kilometer outside Cuzco.
De Vistadome leaves daily at 06.57 from Poroy. This train arrives in Aguas Calientes at 09.50. Deze train returns to Poroy at 15.25 and arrives in Poroy at 18.40.
The Expedition train is slightly less comfortable and leaves from Poroy at 07.42. This train arrives in Aquas Callientes at 10.50 and returns to Cuzco at 17.03 and arrives in Poroy at 21.20. People who travel in the Expedition train pay slightly less..
RAFTING IN THE URUBAMBA RIVIER
Duration: 09.00 – 15.00
We will pick you up from your hotel at 9.00 to drive you to the Urubamba river. According to the month of the year we either start the rafting near Ollantaytambo or near Pisac. The actual rafting takes about 2 hours and is great fun. After a box lunch near the river we drive you back to Cusco where you arrive at about 15.00.

HORSE RIDING
Duration: All day
You will be picked up from your hotel at about 9.30 to go to a farm about 30 minutes outside Cusco. Here the horses are waiting for you to take you into the country side. The terrain is quite rough and the views are stunning. We will stop several times for a break but all together you will be with the horse for about 4 hours and the trip ends near the ruins of Qenqo. This trip is great fun even for people who have never been on a horse before.
INCA TRAIL AND OTHER TREKS
